  225.  This option allows you to ADD files into
  226.  the compressed by displaying a list of
  227.  files in a window.  After the window is
  228.  displayed you tag the files to ADD by
  229.  pressing the space bar.  After all files

  231.  process the tagged files.

  234.  This option will allow you to add or
  235.  update the compressed file comments.

  238.  This option will delete all files that
  239.  are contained in the compressed file
  240.  from the current DISK:\DIRECTORY,or the
  241.  one specified via the ALT-P command.

  244.  This option allow you to specify which
  245.  files to extract from the compressed
  246.  file. You may specify more the one
  247.  filespec when the prompt appears.  Wild
  248.  cards are allowed.

  250. *altf    !!freshen-from-list!!
  251.  This option allows you to FRESHEN files
  252.  in the compressed by displaying a list
  253.  of files in a window.  After the window
  254.  is displayed you tag the files to
  255.  FRESHEN by pressing the space bar.
  256.  After all files have been tagged press
  257.  the ENTER key to process the tagged
  258.  files.
  259.  
  260. *altg   !!search for string!!
  261.  This option allows you to search all ,or
  262.  only tagged files, for a specific string of
  263.  characters using the program FGREP.COM
  264.  (Which must be in a directory in your PATH
  265.  statement). If no files are tagged then all
  266.  files will be searched.  After the search is
  267.  completed to results will be listed on the
  268.  screen.
  269.  
  270. *altm   !!move-from-list!!
  271.  This option allows you to MOVE files
  272.  into the compressed by displaying a list
  273.  of files in a window.  After the window
  274.  is displayed you tag the files to MOVE
  275.  by pressing the space bar.  After all
  276.  files have been tagged press the ENTER
  277.  key to process the tagged files.
  278.  
  279. *altn  !!extract newer!!
  280.  This option will extract ALL or TAGGED NEWER
  281.  files from the compressed file into the
  282.  current DISK:\DIRECTORY or the one specified
  283.  via the ALT-P command.
  284.  
  285. *altp  !!!get_extract_path!!!
  286.  This options allows you to specify a disk
  287.  and directory of where any extracted files
  288.  will be placed.  Specify the extract path as
  289.  follows:
  290.  DISK:\DIRECTORY
  291.  Pressing any key other than the ENTER key
  292.  will clear the extract path. To display a
  293.  directory window enter ONLY a DRIVE LETTER
  294.  FOLLOWED BY A COLON, then press the enter
  295.  key.
  296.  A single * may be entered to tell SHEZ to
  297.  use it's floating extract location
  298.  logic.
  299.  
  300. *altr !!rename highlighted!!
  301.  The ALT-R command allows you to rename the
  302.  currently hilighted file in the compressed
  303.  file. You will be prompted for a new name.
  304.  
  305. *alts   !!speed_srch!!
  306.  Speed search allows you to find a file
  307.  in the compressed file quickly.  After
  308.  the window pops up enter the first
  309.  character of the file you wish to find.
  310.  The display will be repositioned to the
  311.  first file in the list that starts with
  312.  that letter. (NOTE since files are
  313.  stored in random order sort the list
  314.  first)
  315.  
  316. *altt  !!toggle tagged display line!!
  317.  Pressing the ALT-T keys will toggle
  318.  the tagged file display line at the
  319.  bottom of the screen.
  320.  
  321. *altu    !!update-from-list!!
  322.  This option allows you to UPDATE files
  323.  in the compressed by displaying a list
  324.  of files in a window.  After the window
  325.  is displayed you tag the files to
  326.  UPDATE by pressing the space bar.
  327.  After all files have been tagged press
  328.  the ENTER key to process the tagged
  329.  files.

  331. *altv  !!view archive comments!!
  332.  This option will display the master
  333.  comment record and the file comment
  334.  records for the selected compressed
  335.  file.

  338.  This option will extract ALL files from
  339.  the compressed file into the current
  340.  DISK:\DIRECTORY or the one specified via
  341.  the ALT-P command.
  342.  
  343. *alty   !!run pgm on tagged!!
  344.  This option allows run a program against
  345.  all tagged file(s).  You will be prompted
  346.  to enter the program name to run, the
  347.  parameters to pass to the program, if you
  348.  want SHEZ to swap itself out of memory when
  349.  running the program, and if you want SHEZ
  350.  to pause after each execution of your
  351.  program.
  352.  
  353. *altz  !!virus check!!
  354.  This option will check files to see if they
  355.  have been infected with a virus.  You must
  356.  have the virus checking program from McAfee
  357.  Assoc. call SCAN.EXE version 39 or greater,
  358.  and have used the configuration program to
  359.  tell SHEZ where to find SCAN.EXE.

  361.  IF FILES ARE TAGGED SHEZ WILL ONLY CHECK
  362.  THE TAGGED FILES FOR INFECTION.

  364. *alt1  !!authenticity toggle!!
  365.  This option will toggle the authenticity
  366.  option when using PKZIP version 1.1 or
  367.  greater.  If the authenticity mode is
  368.  toggled on a ! will appear next to the
  369.  [FILE LIST] window header on the main
  370.  screen or next to the NAME field on the
  371.  compressed file contents screen.
  372.  
  373. *c  !!create-new!!
  374.  This will allow you to create a NEW
  375.  compressed file.  You will be prompted
  376.  to enter the
  377.  DISK:\DIRECTORY\FILENAME.EXT of the
  378.  compressed file to create, whether you
  379.  want to add or move files into the new
  380.  compressed file, and the DISK:\DIRECTORY
  381.  of the files to add and/or move to the
  382.  new compressed file.
  383.  YOU MUST SUPPLY A FILE EXTENSION FOR THE
  384.  FILE TO BE CREATED.  SHEZ CURRENTLY WILL
  385.  ALLOW YOU TO CREATE ZIP,ARC,ZOO,LZH and
  386.  PAK files!!!!!
  387.  
  388.  You will also be asked if you want to
  389.  TAG files to be added/moved or process
  390.  the entered file spec as is.
  391.  
  392.  If the compression program you choose
  393.  supports saving path information you will
  394.  also be asked if you want to save
  395.  directory information, and if you want to
  396.  recurse the directory tree.
  397.  
  398.  If you are converting from a ZIP to an ARJ
  399.  or a ARJ to a ZIP file you will also be
  400.  asked if you wish to preserve volume label
  401.  information that can be stored inside the
  402.  compressed file.  (THIS OPTION WILL ONLY
  403.  APPEAR WHEN CONVERTING THE CURRENTLY
  404.  HIGHLIGHTED FILE.  IT WILL NOT APPEAR IF
  405.  RUNNING UNDER OS/2.)
  406.  
  407.  
  408. *ctld  !!delete tagged!!
  409.  This option will delete all tagged files
  410.  from the compressed file.  You will be
  411.  asked to verify the delete before the
  412.  files are actually deleted from the
  413.  compressed file.
  414.  
  415. *ctle  !!extract tagged!!
  416.  This option will extract all tagged
  417.  files from the compressed file.
  418.  
  419. *ctlenter  !!alternate viewer!!
  420.  This option will activate the alternate
  421.  file viewer if one has been defined in
  422.  the SHEZ.EV external file.
  423.  PLEASE SEE  THE USER MANUAL FOR
  424.  INSTRUCTIONS ON SETTING UP AN
  425.  ALTERNATE VIEWER.
  426.  
  427. *ctlt  !!update compressed time and date!!
  428.  This option will set the compressed
  429.  file's time and date to the time and
  430.  date corresponding to the newest file in
  431.  the compressed file.
  432.  
  433. *ctlu  !!untag all!!
  434.  This option will untag all currently
  435.  tagged files.
  436.  
  437. *ctlsp  !!tag all files!!
  438.  This option will tag all files in the
  439.  currently displayed window.
  440.  
  441. *ctlv  !!convert sfx files!!
  442.  This option will convert a self
  443.  extracting file back to its native
  444.  compressed file format. The self
  445.  extracting file will remain untouched.
  446.  The normal compressed file will be
  447.  built on the same drive and directory
  448.  where self extracting file is found.
  449.  
  450. *ctly  !!copy members to another arc!!
  451.  This option allows you to copy all
  452.  tagged files from the current compressed
  453.  file into another compressed file.  The
  454.  target compressed file may be any
  455.  currently supported format.
  456.  
  457. *ctlx !!exit to extract dir!!
  458.  This option will exit SHEZ and will
  459.  drop you off into disk and directory
  460.  that is specified as the extract
  461.  location.
  462.  
  463. *d  !!delete one file!!
  464.  This option will delete the currently
  465.  highlighted file from the compressed
  466.  file. You will be asked to verify the
  467.  delete before the delete is actually
  468.  done.
  469.  
  470. *e  !!extract one file!!
  471.  This option will extract the currently
  472.  highlighted file onto the default disk
  473.  drive and directory, or the
  474.  DISK:\DIRECTORY that was specified via
  475.  the ALT-P command.
  476.  
  477. *f      !!freshen!!
  478.  Using this option you can specify the
  479.  file(s) you wish to FRESHEN in the
  480.  compressed file. You may enter multiple
  481.  filespecs in the entry window.  Wild
  482.  cards are allowed for filenames and file
  483.  extensions.
  484.  
  485. *f10  !!to-dos!!
  486.  This option will temporarily exit to
  487.  DOS. You may then execute any DOS
  488.  command.  To return to SHEZ
  489.  enter EXIT at the DOS prompt and press
  490.  the return key.
  491.  
  492. *af10  !!to-dos to extract_path!!
  493.  This option will temporarily exit to
  494.  DOS and will drop you into the extract
  495.  directory. You may then execute any DOS
  496.  command.  To return to SHEZ enter EXIT
  497.  at the DOS prompt and press the return key.
  498.  
  499. *f2    !!switch_arc!!!
  500.  This option prompts for a new DRIVE:\PATH to
  501.  change to.  You may also specify a filename
  502.  and file extension if you wish. Wild cards
  503.  in the name and extension are allowed. IF
  504.  YOU ENTER A FILENAME OF $ AND A FILE
  505.  EXTENSION OF $ SHEZ WILL DISPLAY ONLY THE
  506.  ARCHIVE FILES THAT ARE FOUND IN THE
  507.  SPECIFIED DIRECTORY.
  508.  I.E. C:\WORK\$.$
  509.  You can also pop-up a directory tree window
  510.  by press the F9 key. When the tree appears
  511.  you may press the letters C-Z to obtain a
  512.  directory tree of a different drive. You may
  513.  also enter a DRIVE LETTER FOLLOWED BY A
  514.  COLON, before pressing the the F9 key.
  515.  
  516. *f8  !!edit!!
  517.  This option will allow you to edit a
  518.  file in the compressed file.  This
  519.  option will only work if you specified
  520.  an editor to use when you configured
  521.  compressedPER.
  522.  
  523. *f9    !!!get_sort!!!
  524.  Using this option you can specify how
  525.  you want the compressed files sorted on
  526.  the screen. They can be sorted by Name,
  527.  Extension, Date, Size, or Unsorted.
  528.  
  529. *fact  !!!compression factor!!!
  530.  This option will allow you to set the
  531.  compression method used by the PKZIP or ARJ
  532.  programs.  When you set the compression
  533.  method, it will remain in effect until you
  534.  change it again.
  535.  
  536.  
  537. *g  !!password!!
  538.  This option allows you to specify the password
  539.  to be used by the compression program.  If the
  540.  compression program does not support passwords
  541.  an error window will appear informing you that
  542.  the option is not supported.
  543.  
  544. *i  !!show info!!
  545.  This option will show information about
  546.  the compressed file. I.E. Number of
  547.  files in file, total size of all files,
  548.  time and date of compressed file, etc.
  549.  
  550. *m     !!mode!!
  551.  Using this option you can specify the
  552.  file(s) you wish to MOVE into to the
  553.  compressed file. You may enter multiple
  554.  filespecs in the entry window.  Wild
  555.  cards are allowed for filenames and
  556.  extensions.
  557.  
  558. *o !!toggle overwrite!!
  559.  This option toggles overwrite mode. When
  560.  overwrite mode is active the letter "O"
  561.  will appear in the upper right corner of
  562.  the compressed display heading line.
  563.  When overwrite is active the uncompress
  564.  pgm will not ask you if you wish to
  565.  overwrite a pre-existing file when you
  566.  extract a file from the compressed file.
  567.  
  568. *p  !!path options!!
  569.  This option allows you to specify if you
  570.  want to save and/or use path information
  571.  when working with compressed files.
  572.  
  573. *q  !!immediate exit!!
  574.  This option will immediately exit
  575.  SHEZ.
  576.  
  577. *r  !!run a file!!
  578.  This option will extract and run the
  579.  highlighted EXE or COM file.  You will be
  580.  prompted to enter the optional command line
  581.  parameters that the program may need.  When
  582.  the program ends the extracted file will be
  583.  deleted.
  584.  
  585. *s  !!add/update file comments!!
  586.  This option allows you to add and or
  587.  update the comment records associated
  588.  with the currently highlighted file.
  589.  
  590. *sfts  !!add/update file comments!!
  591.  This option allows you to add and or
  592.  update the comment records assocaited
  593.  with each file in the compressed file.
  594.  
  595. *t  !!test compressed!!
  596.  This option will test the integrity of
  597.  the compressed file.
  598.  
  599. *u       !!update!!
  600.  Using this option you can specify the
  601.  file(s) you wish to UPDATE in the
  602.  compressed file. You may enter multiple
  603.  filespecs in the entry window.  Wild
  604.  cards are allowed for filenames and file
  605.  extensions.
  606.  
  607. *v  !!view!!
  608.  This option will allow you to view the
  609.  contents of a file in the compressed
  610.  file.  The LIST.COM program will be used
  611.  to view the file.
  612.  
  613. *z  !!mask!!
  614.  This option allows you to specify a file
  615.  mask to be used when displaying the
  616.  contents of a compressed file.  For
  617.  example if you specify a mask of *.C
  618.  only the files having an extension of C
  619.  will be displayed on the screen.
  620.  
  621. *maltd !!view 4dos!!
  622.  This option will display the 4DOS or
  623.  NDOS file descriptions that are
  624.  maintained by the DESCRIBE command.
  625.  SHEZ can only handle a description
  626.  file that is 30,000 bytes or less.
  627.  
  628. *maltu !!update/add 4dos!!
  629.  This option allows you to update/add
  630.  NDOS/4DOS file descriptions to the
  631.  highlighted file.
  632.  This option only functions if you
  633.  are running under NDOS/4DOS.
  634.  
  635. *mtab !!open second file window!!
  636.  When the DOS directory window is
  637.  displayed, pressing the TAB key will
  638.  open a secondary directory display
  639.  window.  You may view other directories
  640.  and/or drives while this window is
  641.  open.  Pressing the TAB key again is
  642.  the only way to close the secondary
